The New Orleans Saints defeated the Detroit Lions 42-7 on Sunday in a further blow to the Motor City’s battered pride.
With the loss the winless Lions become the first team to lose 15 games in a season leaving Detroit on the brink of claiming an unwanted place in the NFL record book.
A loss to the Green Bay Packers next Sunday in their season finale on Lambeau Field would make the Lions the only team to complete 0-16 for the season, replacing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who finished the 1976 campaign 0-14.
